Preparations are well underway for the completion of the two new built vessels this weekend.  The yard is a hive of activity with space being made and scaffolding being taken down so that the vessel Guiding Light can be lifted into the water on the 28th April and join the now near completed Summer Rose, who is having her naming ceremony carried out this Saturday 21st April at 2.30pm.

Summer Rose's owner, John Macalister's grandaughter Cara Reilly, is going to perform the naming ceremony here on Saturday and then Matthew Ramsey, who is Mission Superintendent will bless the boat before she starts her sea trails and then the journey up to Oban to join  her two Parkol built sister ships Rois Mhairia and the Star of Jura.

The naming cermoney will be carried out on the quay followed by a celebration party attended by the Owners, guests and Parkol employees.

Everyone at Parkol is due enourmous credit for their hard work and determination to acheive the exacting specifications required for both these vessels.

Guiding Light, due to be launched on the 28th April, will be the sister ship to Guiding Star, was designed by Ian Paton, is a steel hulled motor fishing vessel, of double chine, transome stern, semi bulbous bow, soft nose stem and with full length shelter, arranged for pair trawling with a dry hold and will be manned by a crew of 8 men.
